Can We End New HIV Transmissions in North Carolina?

Speaker: Lee Storrow, Executive Director
North Carolina AIDS Action Network

Lee Storrow

There's been a lot of chatter in recent years about plans to end AIDS or stop new HIV transmissions by 2030. Is this really possible? New bio-medical interventions, updated science around HIV transmission, and the potential of a world free from stigma might suggest it's possible. At the same time, homophobic legislation, shrinking public health budgets, and rising HIV rates in young gay & bi men of color in the south should sound the alarm bells when it comes to our ability to tackle HIV. This talk from Lee Storrow, executive director of the NC AIDS Action Network, will highlight how far we've come when it comes to HIV in North Carolina, and what barriers exist to realizing the end of an epidemic.
